Visit to Bullock pilot site

Sunday 16th March 2025, the RECCLUM project team led by Professor Sidat Yaffa conducted an inspection at the pilot site in Bullock west coast region. A month ago, the researchers plotted Onion trials inline with project objectives aim at collating evidence based results to enable women gardeners adopt best horticultural practices in Onion production. The trials are growing as expected to the delight of researchers who reassured the women of their resolve to the success of the garden.

In a brief meeting with the women, Prof Sidat Yaffa, Dr Mamma Sawaneh and Dr Ebrima Sonko explained some of the issues discussed at the just concluded African Symposium on Climate Change, Land Use and Disasters Management on the theme “Integrating Strategies for Climate Resilience, Land Use and Disaster Management in Africa” in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, funded by the German Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBF). They conveyed goodwill messages from project partners who are very optimistic of a successful research study. Prof Yaffa and team also advised women gardeners to devise sustainability measures in maintaining the facilities provided in the garden and encourage them to continue other livelihood skills including Soap making, tie and die among others.
